A 2014 Urban Land Institute study reported that healthy buildings resulted in greater marketability and faster leasing and sales, and commanded higher rents. Wellness features represented a minimal percentage of the overall development budget. For large buildings, WELL features can cost less than $1 per sq. ft.
WELL buildings provide fresh air, natural light, energy efficiency and water conservation. Heat sensors can adjust room temperature according to the number of occupants in the room. High end systems can deliver heating and cooling through individual portals to each workspace so every employee can control the temperature around their own desk.
